Your questions are like asking "how would you know to ask
how to find a car if you didn't know it was called a car?"

Perhaps if you were buying a car you'd have enough money to just run out and
start spending.
The answer is to describe your intentions to those you ask

Boy, you _really_ want this to be a problem don't you?

I happen to believe questions with only an ideal of
"Knowing" are folly,

Far from merely believing, I have proven over and over that knowing things
has very practical benefits over time.

the OP should try his question over at:
"alt.energy.homepower"

OK, you got me. I went over there. It was really very clever of you to
send me to a nuthouse full of freaking flamers.

Same here. I can't even begin to estimate the number of times
that something I read, heard or learned, without any practical
use in sight at the time, later proved to be very useful. And
many times, the chance to use it would have passed if I had had
to learn it on demand.

Besides, acquiring knowledge is by itself very satisfying. The
questions we ask may not always be written or addressed to
others, but they are there. This is why we watch Discovery and
NatGeo, and why some of us like to pore over encyclopedias
without expecting to make practical use of what we see.

That's funny I don't see your post there? While that
newsgroup, just as many, gets its share of nuts; there
are a number of frequent posters that address issues
related to homepower from a very practical point of
view. Given its title/name I am somewhat surprised
that there aren't more arguments between the actual
practical DIY rural types and the noisy Greens.

You should at least be directed to information
sources by some of the posters who are actually
using a grid connected setup. One point of fact, you
can't get a reply if you don't even start the thread.

Luck;
Ken

No need. Some kind souls here already gave me an answer. I only visited
the group because it seemed absolutely essential to the safety of the
universe.

Thanks
