Oh yeah?

Why don't you guys look at the threads in this posting?
My reply on August 8 spells things out.

Sherwin

Your use of terms is confusing. "threads" are subjects. A "posting"
- better known as just a "post" are individual messages in a thread.

Your August 8 reply (a posting) in THIS thread said:

"Look's like I'm not going to get any answers on this forum"

NOW what!?

You obviously looked at the wrong message.
NOW what!?

Here we go with the semantics again. A thread is a collected string
of messages. Saying my message was part of a thread is more specific
than just saying it was a posting.

Just to put things straight, I will repeat what I posted on August 8.

My problem concerns losing preferences to particular web
sites like tvguide.com and wunderground.com whenever my
Vista Home Premium system reboots.

I do not erase associated cookies, and certain sites do
seem to retain their data. Vista help function says there
are at least three categories of cookies. Are any of these
erased automatically on reboot? I have not set up any kind
of automatic reseting, as far as I know.

Go to Google. Type in the box: Best Buy/Geek Squad

Then choose the local store in your area.

In this thread I can find only one post by you that is dated August 8,
2009, and the only original text in it is this:

"Look's like I'm not going to get any answers on this forum".

Can you reconcile this with your remarks above?

You call me an idiot? Sending me to a store to fix a hardware
problem? If this is your idea of a joke, it isn't funny.
Just stop answering my postings.

Jesus H. Christ. How many posts have been posted? You still haven't
received an answer? Give it up.

If you want to deal with Cookies and retaining data, bring up IE, go to
tools, Internet Options, Delete. Take a look around and see what you
can delete.

Other than that, I think we will be beating a dead horse.

The post you are referring to was on August 8 at 11:05 AM.

If you look at the post of August 9 at 1:48 AM, you will
find my question there.

Besides, if you look at what's included in your posting,
you will find my question there. How much clearer can
I be?

My theory is that certain people on this forum feel uncomfortable
not being able to answer a straight forward question, and are
trying to dodge it by focusing on posting etiquette.

If you are going to give advice, at least be logical. Erasing cookies
is exactly the problem. I need to retain certain cookies for this
problem to be fixed.
Other than that, I think we will be beating a dead horse.

It's not dead, it's tied up in the barn where nobody knows how
to ride it.

Which is also the post you have been referring to...
If you look at the post of August 9 at 1:48 AM, you will
find my question there.

On my copy of this thread there is no post from an entity named Sherwin
Dubren dated August 9 at 1:48 AM, or anything differing from that time
by an integral number of hours (i.e., a number of time zones).

Not as quoted by you in this post...

To me, you seem to be hopelessly confused.

Consider learning how to use Message IDs to refer to posts.

BTW, the text you claim to quote below the remark "Just to put things
straight, I will repeat what I posted on August 8" appears for the
first time in this thread in the post where the remark about putting
things straight appears, which is dated 8/10/09 17:34:26, and has
Message-ID: <[email protected]>.

Get yourself a decent email handler. Thunderbird works for me and I
can clearly see both my posts with it.

Then I suggest you take a screenshot of it and post it to Picasa or
something similar. I'm seeing the same as everyone else and I reloaded the
ng.

I haven't seen anyone so confused as you in quite awhile. Maybe you
should seek professional help before returning to post. I also suggest
getting help from someone with brains so they can teach you the proper
way to post.

Just FYI.

One more thing. Stay away from Ely's restaurant. You don't want to
annoy the waitress.

Here is the message I refer to:

So FUCIWIT, what advice are you looking for?
Gee, it so pleasant dealing with such considerate people.

My problem concerns losing preferences to particular web
sites like tvguide.com and wunderweather.com whenever my
Vista Home Premium system reboots.

Much of my frustration and wrong posting comes from problems
I had getting to this forum through microsoft's help screens.
I could not post anything, even though I had an account set
up for that purpose. I later realized that I could get to
this forum where I recognized the threads as being the same
as those on the microsoft directed forum. I'm sorry for
the obscure posting I made, but did not expect the wrath
of g_d to come down on me.

Sherwin

It clearly shows that I did post my question on August 8.
at 1:48, and it was repeated in a reply from Spanky at
8:20 that morning. All this B.S. about my not posting
the question, is just that. I'll never get my question
answered, just a lot of crap from these forum wise guys.

Sherwin

sherwin dubren submitted this idea :

I've got a decent e-mail handler. I use it for e-mail.

I use a *newsreader* for news. In fact, I have two decent (actually
excellent) newsreaders, and the post you keep referring to is not shown
by either. Note that other people don't see it either.

And just for your information, your post doesn't exist here in
Thunderbird's copy of this thread either. I don't list Thunderbird
among the two excellent newsreaders I refer to above, mainly because I
rarely use it, except to refute dodos.

Apparently you have a local copy of that post on your computer, since
you tried to send it from there, but it is not out in cyberspace.

I see that, in another post, you copied what you claim is the missing
post; I also see that you have not provided a message ID for the
putative post. As far as I am concerned, your post does not exist until
you provide that ID.

That would be more likely to be a function of the NNTP server you're
connecting to than the client you're using. Sherwin's posts might be
on the server that he connects to, but not (yet) propagated to others.
Or maybe you're connecting to Microsoft's server, and they've filtered
out Sherwin's post. (They have *very* aggressive spam filters, you
never know what will get snagged in them.)

Didn't you already post this message? Maybe you need some medicine.

Here's what Tim Slattery wrote on 8/13/09:

I was responding to what Sherwin Dubren said...

Yes, I agree that it is possible that MS culled a post of his after it
got propagated to other news servers so that it is still visible on one
or more of them; or maybe it never made it to MS, as I assumed.
However, I don't plan to see if I can find his post on some other
server somewhere that is cloning MS.

For one thing, I'm no longer very interested in this thread.
