in turn is a country controlled by only a few people.

They never did for free either.

Nope, they didnt.

They wouldn't take extraordinary measures to recover the data, but
they'd try to read the returned drive and write the contents to its
replacement, at no extra charge. This was back when some Quantums were
still made in Japan (by Matsushita?) and maybe the U.S.
