Ok, ok... Bob, I am slowly coming round to the idea of trying this sequence
you suggested - I can see it makes a lot of sense, but I need to know that if
everything goes wrong, I can at least get back to my present state with the
old driver. So here are my questions. If you (or anyone else) can answer them
I'd be grateful.
1. If I double-click on the driver update exe file that I've downloaded, I
understand that it will install the new driver. But do these packages
preserve the old driver after installation?If there are problems, will I
still be able to use the 'roll back' function in Device Manager to retrieve
the old driver? Or will the old driver be gone for good?
AND/OR
2. If I make a system restore point at the outset, will that effectively do
the same job as the device manager rollback function? In other words, will
the old driver be preserved in the restored state?
