Agreed. Just don't let your Linux buddies hear you saying that.
They'll start pounding their chests proclaiming Linux is completely
safe.

It's safer than Windows.
I'm one of the few Linux lovers who doesn't hesitate to proclaim Linux
isn't a "wonderful" as it's advocates would have you believe.

It does the job once you have it set up.
But as I like to say.......

Every OS sucks.

I disagree. I like both XP and Ubuntu.

And then Vista puts the kids to bed? Does it also give them a bath?
The "go to bed at a decent hour" is for morons who let children have
computers in their bedroom. It's bad enough that most kids today probably
have a TV in their bedroom.
To give them a bath, you either need to buy the Vista Plus Nanny Pack, or
coat them in peanut butter and let them play with the dog.
LOL! Even the free ones like Avast! and AVG? Are you saying that Microsoft
included Defender with Vista just to waste your time and the One Care is
not for Vista but just to get your money?

Are you also saying you use no third party firewall and have no anti virus
on your Vista machines?

Alias

Vista is 100% secure... in fact every OS is... until you take it out of the
box...

Correction: once you accept, the license is yours and the money is theirs
- you never own the software.

So how do they prove that you have or have not clicked accept or not?

Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

What if you've got Vista and it's working as well or better than XP
(as in my case)?

Then inside your pc there is a little creature that makes sure that
everything
is working by manually repairing the flaws in real time.
And what is a "ventor"?
Nice question!
Ventor is the name of the planet those creatures originate from.

If you stay very still at night you may hear it creaping out to get a
sandwitch from the kitchen. :-)

But we are stuck with crappy preinstalled Vista that does not work at all.
Tech support is charged by HP and MS. Boycott Vista products

If Vista was pre-installed and it doesn't work on the system you bought,
return the system and get your money back. Of course if you just came here
to rant against Microsoft, then rant away and have fun.

I really dont want to "rant" against Microsoft. I really dont believe that
is what any of the posters really want. I think most of us just want help
making Vista work. Tech support should be at no charge to anyone purchasing
this product, until it works properly. The problem is that neither Microsoft
nor HP want to take responsiblity for Vista problems unless they have your
credit card in hand. Again, all I really wanted was help making the system
work. Your unkind defensive remark makes me wonder if Microsoft understands
Vista. Your only answer was to return it. Hmmmm

I didn't see a problem stated in your post?

Windows is probably the most freely supported software product on the
market. There are literally thousands of website forums and newsgroups where
you can get help.

Cant run NERO, Nokia Suite, Corel etc. They all work on XP, but the upgrades
for Vista cant run on Vista
