I think it was a recent case of an individual enticing teenagers to do
things with webcams that were contrary to the teenagers wishes.

The individual concerned used a feature to take control of teenagers
computers. Apparently after some images were taken the individual
opened teenagers email and threatened to send an email to every one in
the address book.

If memory serves me well there were a few girls in Canada and a few in
the UK. The individual has now been prosecuted.

??? What in the world are you talking about?
What does " your answer" [sic] have to do with my question?

I would not recommend trying to run Vista on a system with only
512MB's RAM. Unless all you do is surf the web, you're not going
to be happy with performance.

How do you know...?

I'm running Vista 5536 on a Dell D620 with 512MB's RAM. It performs OK with
just a couple of apps open; I haven't really pushed it. No games or graphics
intensive stuff. Yes, Vista will run in 512MB's RAM and probably acceptably
so for some folks. Depends on what one wants to do with it.

Interestingly... this laptop has 64MB's video RAM, 32MB system and 32MB
shared and it's running Aero.

Frank;
Be careful what you assume.
5536 is not available to MSDN and probably will never be.
There are many legitimate sources for Microsoft Beta products.

Then tell us...where does a 13 yr old kid get 5536?

Any number of many events where Microsoft routinely passes out various
software.
Depending on the event, you can get Betas, trial software and even in some
cases, full versions of software.
Full versions of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise was common a few years ago
at appropriate events.
Search for events here:
http://www.microsoft.com/events/inperson/default.mspx
Exactly what you get is usually unknown in advance.
Usually some software will be related to the subject of the event.
But often new or up and coming software is often given out.
If you have never been to one, try it.
There is normally no age limit.
Events ore one of the more common, but there is of course Betas as well as a
wide variety of other sources.

Or if you are me. :) Been beta testing Microsoft Products since I was about
14. Legally as a technical beta tester and TAP user. 13 was the agre
requriment when I signed up. I sent at email to Windy back in the day and
was onboard in no time. Since then I've beta tested every Microsoft OS from
Windows Me to Vista. Including all service backs, addons, etc. And a number
of other betas. Right now I am beta testing 25 microsoft bets on microsoft
connect. And I always manage to post at least 100 unquine bugs per beta. :)

Well... The CPU is an Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83Ghz and the display adapter
is a Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Controller 0 (Microsoft
Corporation - WDDM). The mobo is reported by Belarc Advisor as being a Dell
Inc. 0TD761.

Yes Mario, I really am 13 years old.

And for those of you who wonder where I got 5536, today there are many ways
to find it over google and torrents, but I still don't do it that way. My
school's Campus Technologist is indeed a beta tester. She does everything
legal, so she sent a letter to the beta testing group, and asked them if it
was possible for her to issue me copies of the betas, they denied though. So,
with just a few clicks and a few hours, you can have the latest version on
your computer!

Oh, And If Kevin Reads This, Just FYI, I Didn't Have To Pay 500$ for A M$DN
Subscription.

What, you stole it?

Dude, it's just beta! Is Microsoft losing something??? Uh, no. If it was the
real version, I would agree with you!
