vista is faster!

Vista is expensive for what you get.. which is a MESS not an OS.

...as opposed to Linux where no two distros have things in the same
place so you go to install an application and not only do you have to
re-write the installer so that it can find what it needs to work only
to find that you're in dependency hell having to go off and find X and
then find X1 because X complains X1 is missing only then to find X1
needs X2(this continues until you've downloaded the entire
internet)....because it wants library version 1.1.2 and you have
1.1.2.1, you have to then alter the installed apps .conf files AGAIN so
it can find stuff.

Yeah...Linux is real tidy.

That sounds horrible! Thank god we only use Linux appliances and I don't
ever have to touch the OS.

Faster than what?

Think about it for a few more minutes.
If you consider 4 minutes for system restore to open or waiting 5 minutes
for explorer to respond then I can only imagine what your current system
is.

5 minutes for explorer? Are you sure you want to stick with that answer?
It makes you look very foolish.
Again faster than what?

Have you figured it out yet?
To be accurate it isn't searching, it's already searched and everything
Bill
Gates thinks you should search is already indexed. (which is about 10% of
you
HD space)

Wrong!

It starts up faster

It browses folders faster

wow! Vista is indeed faster!

...If Vista emptied your wallet then shame on you for buying something
you can't afford.
...You only had a 15GB hard drive? You suck!

Your disdain for those who don't have as much money as you do is
pathetic, especially when you consider that you didn't pay for Vista.

Alias

you are mistaken... there are linux DVDs that have all the applications on
the disk...
1 dvd is all you need.. you dont even need an internet connection....

I am not a linux freak.... if you read my posts I say that XP is better than
vista,
not that linux is better than vista....

oh so you don't know anything about linux! lol

If you want to learn computers in general you should use all OS
you can find.. that would expand your understanding...

I love windows (not vista though), yet I have tried many linux distros,
and used macOSX whenever I could just so I can have a better understanding
of various OS.

instead you stick with Vista and that's all you use.. so you cant
have a serious opinion about OS's... what you have said in this newsgroup
is like a kid whining that his os is good....

Try some linux distros in vmware server (free) just to learn... you don't
have to be a fan.\

I know that after I've tried installing it, I have no support for my
hardware. You don't read this NG much, do you?

I've used many OSs. Who told you otherwise?

Who cares?

Who told you that? Is this how you sleep at night? You tell yourself that
anyone who likes Vista has never used anything else?

I already have tried it. That's why I use Windows.

So, basically that entire post of yours was nothing but made up garbage.
Try again.

ok before attempting to use iexbeta and stealing their bandwidth for posting
that list did you get permission, or are you even a member?

Also since you seem to be a rather poor excuse for a troll let me do some
education for you.

You say that linux will run everything on the "application" search on
google.

Fine, Half Life 2 (any version or variant)

2nd, your indexing point is worthless. Indexing only runs until all of the
items have been indexed. Then it actually adds the new items to the index
as they are created or moved, and after that it just periodically does
lookup checks and only during times when the PC is idle.

Why is it trolls always post links to someone else's stuff and try to take
credit for being smart rather than doing their own research and posting real
findings :(

Now it's called page swapping/temp files.

At some points during the install that full 15gb may be used so it needs to
be there.

Once the install is complete though the OS cleans up its tracks as far as
the install is concerned so it's not using a full 15GB when finished.

Oi, troll logic is lacking.

Actually I can only imagine what your PC must be like if it takes 4 minutes
to open system restore :(

Mine only takes about 3 seconds.

Dude you really should really expend some cash and get rid of that old
Cyrix5x86.

For consumer, it meant you have to find a nice and fancy trash can to dump
your old pc and go out buy a new capable vista hardware.
Which is just great for those of us that want to run a real operating
system! Nothing like getting free or greatly reduced prices on hardware
that will run Linux while poor Windoze users have to discard it to be able
to run the next bloatware from MickeyMouse.

Cheers.

Actually the human body isn't able to support something as heavy as a
full-grown horse. It would actually permanently damage the person involved
no matter how much they had "bulked up" in advance.

Also you're generalizing about the whole cars thing. I walk everywhere that
I possibly can, I hate cars. The only time I use a car or a bus is if I'm
going somewhere that it would take me hours to walk.

Also Vista is only like "horse on the back of a CPU" if you are using an
antiquated piece of garbage.

Even my 2.5 year old laptop can run Vista with all the graphical effects
with no slow downs.

That was a very confusing post. You might want to make sure you address the
proper person. It seems you attempted to address two different posts at the
same time.

To address each item individually:

1. Yes, nick is not bright for thinking Linux will run everything.

2. Yes, nick is not bright for thinking Vista indexing runs all the time.

3. Posting a text link to another site does not steal bandwidth. No
permission is needed. If they didn't want to be found then they shouldn't
allow spiders to index their site. Anyone with access to Google can find
them. There is nothing private about the site. It serves as information
for the public.

elephant..

That's a bunch of bull! Even on our oldest machine running Vista (about 2
years old) the CPU usage hardly ever peaks above 5% when moving about the
OS.

Quit your lies. Jerky!

Your disdain for those who don't have as much money as you do is
pathetic, especially when you consider that you didn't pay for Vista.
You can buy a 80GB HDD for the price of a few packs of cigarettes.
Perhaps you should try finding a job.

you are mistaken... there are linux DVDs that have all the applications on

Wrong. THe DVD has what that distro author has decided you're allowed
to have. For example, Fedora comes on one DVD with a shitload of stuff.
You'll still have to go off and get MP3 support though.

disdain? Someone's being a drama queen again.

Shaming someone for buying something that can't afford AFTER the fact is not
the same as shamming someone for not BEING able to buy it.

You can only do what you can afford. If you do otherwise then shame on you.
Well, shame on you for crying it about it.

Actually in this case I didn't notice the > next to the top lines.

I didn't have my contacts in that night :(

So I do apologize for that.
