You don't need 15 gb of space, so stop saying it. You can very easily
install it on 10 gb. It only uses up 7gb. That is a lot, but quoting 15 gb
is exagerating.
The reason they say you need 15+ gb of space is because your programs and
personal files will take up a lot of room as well.
The reason it takes up so much space is because the install copies all the
files from the disk to the hard drive before starting the installation. The
makes the install go faster, but uses up more space. Also, no more "Please
insert the Windows 98 SE disk" and such prompts when you install features
and drivers. They are all aready copied.
Windows Vista is also shipped with 19,500 on-disk (with even more available
from Windows Update), which do take up space as well.
