According to Vista's own built-in diagnostics, you can't achieve peak
performance with less than 1.5GB. But then, you can max out the performance
with only 2GB. Will Vista run fine on 1GB? Probably. I'd believe that.
But considering the difference between 1 and 1.5GB is only about 35 bucks, I
don't see the point in giving Vista less than it wants, even in a budget
