The real problem is the after market industry itself in that there are no
real manufacturers selling carts or bottles under their own brand name

This is not true. Inktec & Jettec being examples.

This is a representation of what happens when you deal with small norname
Vendors who have no presence other than a $2500 website. Companies like
Staples and Office Depot have large investments and a physical presence to
maintain and an image to protect. Even the major camera websites have a
physical presence. Not that all is good, mind you.

Unfortunately, I have read that some of the non OEM ink carts and generic
refills the big box office supply companies sell are poor quality. So much
for investment and image. I'll stay with my small vendors whose products
(admittedly relabled from other mfgrs) have proved to be excellent in my
hands.

search for Arthur Entlich posts and email him - request his instructions on
cleaning Epson print heads. He will be glad to email it back and further
assist you if you need more help. He is in the process of changing his
email address. I would search back through this NG and pull up his latest
post for the old address and try it. If it doesn't reach him he will
probably post his new address when he gets it set up.

They are hawkers. The are not manufacturer/formulators that sell their
own branded product to a multitude of resellers, both web and brick and
motors. Wake up and smell the roses.

Yes, this is the same crap that the hawkers sell. It is not a BRANDED
product by a manufacturer.

I wonder what the postal charges are like?

For that price it is probably bingo card dabbers ink.

What can go wrong?

Could be the wrong colors, or wrong density, making your driver no
longer produce images the correct colors.

Could dry too quickly, slowly, causing smearing or other problems,
including head clogs.

Could have contaminants in it, causing head clogs or filter clogs.

Could have incorrect formulation that might bleed, or band on papers you
usually use.

Could use colorants that were not stable, causing rapid fading or color
change on display.

Could have no chips on the cartridges, or the wrong chips, causing them
not to be recognized by the printer

Could have bad seals around the ink outlet, causing the ink to leak out
or for air to end up in the cartridge

For those prices, could be empty old cartridges ;-)

Who knows, maybe they are being sold below cost to get you introduced to
them, and they are just fine... try to get a written warranty from the
company such that if the ink damages your printer, they will cover repair.
