Master Programmer

I love VB.Net! The next version is going to be even better. I'm sorry if I
offended anyone with my rants. Please forgive me. OK?

You couldn't be more right Master. VB.Net is the ultimate tool for windows
programming. VB 6 is worthless. Yeah, you heard me right.

I love VB.NET also, but you ask to be forgiven about the rants. What if it
wasn't OK?
You did ask!

Zim,

Aaron, aka Master Programmer, aka Larry Linson, aka susiedba, et. al., is
simply trolling with different bait.

Bruce

I miss VB6 and "classic" ADO ... but I aint going back. There are too many
new tools that make my life easier. I'm sure that was part of the Microsoft
master plan. However, if you like VB.Net, you would probably like C# even
more. The hands, wrists, and bursitis appreciate not having to type as much.

Aaron, aka Master Programmer, aka Larry Linson, aka susiedba, et. al., is
simply trolling with different bait.

Be careful here, there is a Larry Linson who was/is an MS Access MVP,
and Aaron has been trolling under Larry Linson Jr. Whether or not the
other poster name Larry Linson is just another alias or not I'm not
sure. Also, as far as I can tell, Aaron and Master Programmer are two
different people, though for a while they joined together in .Net
trashing.

As far as the OP goes, given your history many (including myself) are
skeptical at best at your statements. I will however give you the
benefit of the doubt and forgive the previous trolling and welcome you
back into the newsgroup. Just behave this time, I'd hate to have to
plonk you again...

Thanks,

Seth Rowe

so.. c# is the solution to VB.net code verbosity?

I thought that VB6 was.

I am not going to embrace dotnet until the next version; I've been
saying that for several releases now.

I just can't deal with a bloated IDE that crashes on me.
I refuse to do it.

Bruce;

only in your own twisted paranoid universe do I deserve to be
mentioned in the same class as MP.

MP is a genius; he should be Sr Management at Microsoft.

AS SHOULD I.

-Aaron

and for the record, .NET trashing is APPROPRIATE because it is still a
subset of vb6.

and Microsoft doesn't explain it that way.

-Aaron

I would say that is one of the biggest advantages, but not the only one. C#
is much more concise -- if you can deal with all the brackets { }. Some
developers claim that C# is actually more understandable ... instead of Dim
strThing as String, you have string strThing, the idea being that in C# it
is not only less verbose, but has a natural flow. Semantics, I gotta use
both, so it's a non-issue, except that I sometimes forget how to do
something in one language that I can do in another.

how can you get more concise than DIM?

**** brackets; I won't hit SHIFT every 30 seconds

those dipshits should have looked at a keyboard before screwing VB and
putting all their efforts into C#

c# is for fags that missed the 90s because they were stuck in C++ and
Java still-- without a decent IDE.

Meanwhile, we were the WORLDS MOST POPULAR LANGAUGE AND MS KILLED IT
WITH NO VIABLE OR PRACTICAL REPLACEMENT

the answer to verbosity = Vb6 _NOT_ csharp
the answer to verbosity = BUILDING A TIME MACHINE AND BLOWING UP

Seth,

Again, I stand corrected. :) I was simply attempting to use some logical
reasoning behind the post I made. The original post, by Larry Linson, stated
how very much that person LOVES VB.Net. The very next post, by one susiedba,
was also overflowing with praise for the .Net language, followed by another
post by another one of the unnamed one's personalities stepping right behind
the others. The only time ANY posts about VB.Net by 'the one who will remain
unnamed' have not contained any vitriolic, abusive or filthy language has
been when the poster has a conversation with himself. Therefore, by logical
definitions, he was trolling in the opposite direction.

I am sorry that you feel that I am less than honorable in my intentions on
this newsgroup. I do tend to get a bit too involved in things sometimes, but
my whole intention in coming to this newsgroup was to try to learn
something. If I have overstayed my welcome, so be it. Thank you for your
graciousness, but I shall no longer post on this board.

This newsgroup is for VB.Net programming, for VB6 I advice you the newsgroup
microsoft.public.vb.general.discussions.

Thanks in advance to keep it in this newsgroup with VB.Net problems.

Earl,

I use both and I hate in VB.Net that I have to use that senseless Dim; it
really does nothing.
There is nothing against it to make it optinal for backwards compatability.

In C# I hate the use of brackets, those cost me often an halfour in a
complex situation (8 deep). In VBNet I have not any problem if I go 20 deep.

I use very much in C# the difference between uper and lower case, but there
as well I like it more that it is not possible in VB.Net. It looks however
crazy to use those VB.Net standards in C# and visa versa is impossible.

P.S. And for anyone that I have offended, I offer my deepest apologies.

Bruce,

If you think the second paragraph of Seth's message was meant for you, you
should ask. I think he was directing that at MasterProgrammer who
supposedly was the original poster.

I think MasterProgrammer and AaronKempf are two different people, but I
think the first post was AK using MP's alias. MP hasn't been around much
lately; he left the group a while back. I think it's just AK messing around
with us.

So maybe Seth will clarify. I hardly think you need to leave the group
simply because you were trying to help Zim understand that the post from
was a troll, and Seth's comments surely don't pertain to you.

From how I read it, the above is true. It just goes to show the amount
of damage these couple of morons (Aaron + MP) are doing on this site.

Until these individuals started their rants you wouldn't even find a
cross word, now we have people misunderstanding what's being written,
taking offence, and withdrawing their on-going contribution, all because
of confusion created by these couple of lunatics!

If anyone were to withdraw their support then these clowns will have
won. I still believe the best way is to NOT respond directly to them.
I am not responding to them here, I am supporting RobinS in his comments
to Bruce.

Will we ever regain the valuable resource that was once this newgroup???
