Validation Failure

But did you buy that CD ?

I have a different view of what the original message is saying.
In the past I have worked with Microsoft partners like Universities.
They recieve CD's of Operating Systems from MS that contain an inbedded product code,
these are then used to install many copies of the OS on many computers. The site may have 1000 licenses but only one product key, I have worked creating ghost images stored on servers to clone the computers and we would be very protective of the actual CD's, well when you use one of these codes away from the license site thats when you get this type of message. I could be wrong it wouldn't be the first time, but I have heard of students getting their hands on these types of CD's and then having these problems.

If your CD is legal, G-man then forget every thing I just said

nah its perfectly legal ... from pcworld lol ... :D ...

a friend said that you can use the same xp on 3 computers ?! .. maybe i shall CONTACT MS ;)

if you bought the retail version you can use it on 3 computers, not sure on the OEM versions though

i think i have the retail version ?! **CONFUSED** lol ...

it came in a big green box lol ...

pc world ...

i could choose between the upgrade pack (cheaper!) and the one i have now ... i think it cost around £150+ .. i think, i got it a while ago though .... but definatlely wasnt under £100 :)

i asked on the 'microsft' forums ... and basically they said you cant use the same xp on two computers ... be it OEM or RETAIL version!!:(

not the end of the world as i have a windows 98 OS lyeing around for this bucket of crap lol ...

i may just stretch another £50 and get a new xp though ... or get my old man to buy it lol :p

but i feel that isnt right! spending what?! nearly £200 and you can only use it on ONE machine ... some people have 3+ computers in there homes and must have to use a seperate disk ( or buy a liscense ) for each!
