Mark,

Curious....what USB type is being used at home compared to work (i.e. USB
1.0, 1.1, 2.0) and what USB type periphial devices and cables are being
used?

Nospam

1.1 and 2.0 however it was all working and then my MOB failed and I got a
replacement under warranty :-) However it was not untill reciently when I
was trying to transfer some larger files that I saw the problem. I am
using flash drives / various types and have two external USB HD's where the
problem also appears.

I am starting to believe that it is a USB driver problem, as it is OK in
Safe mode ???

I used MS config to disable everything and it still failed yet when I went
to safe mode with every thing still disabled it works ?

As a further test I set up my Brother DCP 110C which happens to have a
card reader in it and I put in an XD card and guess what... I could
transfer the test file and it all works ? The only thing I noticed was that
it was much slower going to the Brother and the XD card 5-4 min for a
80meg file... I then transfered the file from the Brother to my flash disk
also takes 5-4 min and it arrived in good condition. I then tried
transfering the file from my HD to the flash disk 60sec and YEP a corrupted
file....

So is this a driver problem or Hardware ?

Or maybe a BIOS setting related to USB, or interrupts.. Changing the
mobo could have reset one of those.

Went into the Bios and changed it from the higest setting of V1.1 + V2.0
to just V1.1 now my system keeps telling me that I have a high speed
device that can perform faster if I plug it into a Hi-Speed USB 2 port.

BUT it works and I am no longer corrupting files, what ever the size...

Question remains... Is this a driver problem of a hardware problem ?

Is there a BIOS update from the vendor available? If so, it may address
the issue.
