Thinking of upgrading me Laptop, did a bit of research and liked the model that I thought I should get. :)

Any comments?

IBM T43

Those specs look rather nice :D Quite expensive though!

Which IBM do you have at the moment?

I sure think a gig of ram will do wonders, I will have to consider it. ;)

At the moment I have the T41 bought in April last year at around same price. Still a very decent laptop with 1.4Ghz CPU, half gig of Ram, 32 MB ATI Ratiation card, DVD Combo, 40 gig HD etc.

While I was looking around I came across a post on one of the other forums which really caught my attention. Some of the members on that forum thought it was of of the best post they had read in years

actually I hate IBM..

my first notebook was a T42.. and I sold it to my friend because I thought it looked too dull.. I went through several notebooks after that and this is where I begin to hate my IBM..

because of IBM, I have an impossible time finding a better keyboard
because of IBM, I have yet to find a notebook with a sturdy palm rest, yet mostly cool, even when running games.
because of IBM, I constantly flex various areas of the lid and notebook when searching for a new one.
because of IBM, I can't find any brand that offers the same combination of build quality, sturdiness, and quiet and cool operation.. **** you IBM!

:D

a laptop with gigabit ethernet. amazing!

IBM has been incorporating the GB Ethernet sine about 2 years now, my present laptop T41 also has it ;) After all it is considered best business machine one can buy, PRODUCTIVITY written in capital letters :D

I am biased - the proud owner of an IBM Notebook albeit not quite as posh as the one that Quad's looking it - I LURRVE it to bits and it's cool - I have had it on all day and it is still as cool as a cucumber. The keyboard is very nice to use and I just adore it!!!

PS Quad, if you fancy it, go for it mate!!

Quad has already made up his mind ... we need not comment. :D

:D

Mucks,

You just made me realise that, so it is the T43 I guess for me. Will place the order tomorrow ;)

I was hoping someone would suggest getting 1 gig of ram, and you came up to my expectations :D

Well, with all that power, 512 seems a bit meager ... ;)

Some idiot at the distributor by mistake took 2668F8G for 2668F3G in their stock, so basically they do not have in store the model I had chosen for myself. I have to start all over again.

Aaah really sorry Quad. Try somewhere else!! I know when I ordered my IBM lappy there were a few delivery problems but I got there in the end. I had 2 lappies at one time and needed to send one back!!!

Integrated Fingerprint reader
The password you can’t forget
Biometrically authenticated, your fingerprint replaces your password. It gives you – and only you – access to your ThinkPad notebook.

Sweet!

Chris,

No matter how sweet it may sound but you gotta find a solution for someone with a minor cut on the finger and band-aid applied, what do you do in that situation???? :D:D:D

The T43 just arrived!:D

Now have to go through the difficult part of backing up and switching to the new one and passing on the T41 to my colleague (have to set it up for him as well) :D

Will not be able to use it today as I just plan to charge the battery overnight (an absolute must to get the best from a new battery) so that I can have a go at it tomorrow.

Give us a full report when you get the chance - I am so jealous!!!!!!

Yes certainly I will do that, I may ask permission from the boss to do a review, if he agrees you will see it at PC Review :)

WHAT! no mains lead.

Of course the mains lead is there, I just did not want to interrupt it and redo it again, a full uninterupted charge is better and that is ideally done during the night ;)
