Hi again all, just to start off with, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i am going to continue anyway :thumb:

i have an e-machines 3250 that i bough about 8months ago, and its started to 'go slow' on me. Basically i have around £100 and want to boost the RAM preferably to something like 1gb or if i went to 2gb, would the pc blow up and not be able to take it?

Other questions:

  1. How much ram do you think it could handle
  2. What is your opinion on the processor
  3. any other recommendations on how 2 make it faster
Any help and or ideas will be greatly appreciated:

looking at ram from ebuyer

thanks.

first of all in order to give you advice we need to specs of the cmputer like
what ram it has
how muhc ram it is
motherboard
processor etc....
but most motehrboards these days support around 4gb of ram

sorry i forget to attach the pic, i dont have a monkeys about what motherboard it is

It will probably be a cheap unbranded generic jobbie - download Everest Home Edition HERE and let us know what its says about it, and also what type of RAM you have installed - you could always open the case and read it off the module instead of course and see how many spare slots there are.

At the minimum you should be able to put in 1GB, so once you let us know what type it requires I would suggest removing the old 256MB stick and putting in 2 x 512MB sticks.

That should speed things up a bit:thumb:

From what I can see through the wonders of google, you will have 2 slots can take up to 2GB and requires PC2700 DDR333 RAM CL2.5.

Once you have confirmed it , have a look HERE for 2 x 512MB Corsair Value Select at £64 inc VAT.

:thumb:

Even better have a look at Overclockers UK HERE - fifth one down - £62:thumb:

Thanks for help so far, do these help...

Thanks Nath, but a bit is obscured - can you move the Value bar over a bit and tell me the the full make and model showing in DIMM1 under SPD Memory Modules (it starts Nanya NT256D64S88...)

Cheers:)

According tot aht, it stops there, it wont let me see anything else, does this screen shot help? if not, i'll have a butchers at the insides

No problem - I've done it from the motherboard models.

Go with my earlier suggestion and get the Corsair Value Select 2 x 512MB PC2700 DDR333 - use the links I supplied above

Its good stuff and you should notice a big difference:thumb:

(Just make sure you bin the cr*p already installed! ;) )

Should i have a butchers anyway and see whatn theyve plonked inside the case, that 256mb module i have already might be able to go to use somewhere, thanks 4 help :thumb:

I don't need to know what the current module is now, but your welcome to keep it and use it elsewhere.

As I said you can if you want, but its not important anymore....

All those you've quoted are good, but I've already suggested argueably the best in terms of compatability, performance and value so I would stick with it - Corsair also have a lifetime warranty :thumb:
