You're very welcome, although that advice of mine you quoted is very old.
Next time don't wait so long to ask for help here. :-)

I can not restore backed-up e-mails that Norton saved in a winmail.fol
folder. Do you know how can I open this and restore my old e-mails?

I doubt that Norton would back up to a folder named winmail.fol.
Windows Mail uses that file name for an entirely different purpose.

Right-click on the error message, select Copy, then paste it into a reply

Hello, my names Dot and i have the same problem with my email. Have you
found out how to fix the problem?

Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so, right-click
on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

When you get tired of fighting the Windows Mail gremlins (as I did),
try Windows Live Mail.

Gary,

I have tried all your fixes including installing Windows Live Mail - I still
get the error message on windows live mail but can clear it up when I delete
all sent items out of the box. Please give me Windows XP back with outlook
express is that possible? I want to thank you for your input you are a
godsend.

Thanks,

Bob Priddy

That's a very old post of mine you quoted.
I don't know which version of Windows Live Mail you tried, but the latest
is available here: http://download.live.com/wlmail

If you still get an error message with that latest version, right-click on
your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Going back to Windows XP is not recommended because the newer
hardware in late model computers have no published drivers for XP.

Gary, is this still the "FIX" for unsent messages in outbox that you would
recommend (1-17-09) I have one unsent message, that I had written per email
contact posted on a website. All emails I write from Windows mail send fine,
but I keep getting this error message from the email I wrote via the website.

Go to the outbox and then go to View | Current View | Show all messages.
Then if there is a message in the outbox, then delete it. If you sent from
the webmail, then you have to do that in webmail (go tho the outbox there
and delete the message) and not WinMail.

I am very new to this, approx 9hrs,you seemto be a couple of years old,so
HELP.My error messages read as follows "The host 'SMTP' could not be
found.please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Acct
POP3,Server SMTP,Point25,Secure SSL. (Now my point is ,how do I backtrack and
recorrect both the host name and the account name? I'm like unable safterto
afterv several tries, I even tried to reconfigure the system back to the
original boot without success.

You need to enter the correct server name...
Tools - Accounts - (youraccount) - Properties - Servers

If you tell us who provides your email account, someone may be able to point
you to the correct settings.
