unlock document

This is my first time using Microsoft Word! I type on it, and it says this
function unavailbe that it is locked! I tried to enter my validation
certificate but it wont except it, how can I gain access to this program
that has all ready been added to my computer pre-purchase?

What you may have is either a trial version that has expired or the program
has not been activated. If it is the latter, from the Help menu, select
Activate Product.
