Uninstalling Vista

It's like another poster who complained that he had no choice but to
overwrite XP. It was the only computer he had.

Only one computer with only one hard disk with only one partition...:-)

(How come OP has two Windows:-?)

You are probably overlooking the third, and more obvious, possibility:

that the install was done by a person, or persona, more likely, who goes by
the name "accident". If there be a person called "Innocent" then there
should also be someone called "accident".

Sorry to all, needed an outlet after an otherwise subtly humdrum Saturday!

How did you "install by accident"????
...

There are two possibilities,
either the OP had an accident in his brain which led to installing Vista,
or the OP has another mother language than English - accident perhaps
meaning that he/she cannot remember how the installation process was
initiated and took place...;-)

I did a fresh install of vista on an on my hd i had lying around. I had
backed up my files so no big deal. But when i reinstalled xp, and formated, i
found a problem. Windows updates wont install and it seems real buggy, the
boot up takes a while too when in it goes thru the bios stuff. Do i just need
to re-reinstall xp or did vista screw something up?

If you are having a problem in the BIOS area, I would first try to re flash
your BIOS. If you have a restore partition, you may have to contact the
computer service desk, even if you aren't planning to use it.
