I just disabled Norton and was able to restore to thursday, so I am back to
before I messed up the computer. Startup is now 3 minutes without all the
extraneous stuff in the tray. I think the creative diagnostics relates to a
Nomad MP3 player that predated my Ipod. I no longer use creative, but the
software is still there. I do use Acrobat Reader. I am going to remove some
unused programs and I will try some of your other suggestions to clean up and
speed up the computer, but for now I just want to get away from the screen.
