Bit of an odd one this: I'd like to make my pc speak whenever it starts up. Am currently running Vista home edition and I want to make it play a sound file every time the OS starts up (after the password is typed and just as the main screen comes up)

You can try changing the "Windows Logon" sound in Sound manager. Click Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Change System Sounds, then scroll down to "Windows Logon" and browse for the .wav file you want to use :)
