That is incorrect. System Restore by default, creates an automatic
restore point every 24 hors.

Here are other events that will trigger an automatic restore points:

System Restore automatically creates a restore point before the
following events:
Application installation (provided the application utilizes an installer
that is System Restore compliant, most applications are not compliant,
so create a manual restore point before installing any new software). If
the application install causes system problems, the user can restore the
system to a state before the installation of the application, but only
after uninstalling the application via add/remove programs in Control
Panel.

AutoUpdate installation. AutoUpdate provides an easy way for users to
download critical Windows updates. After the update is downloaded, the
user can install the update on the system. If the user chooses to
install the update, System Restore creates a restore point before the
installation of the update begins.

System restore. For example, if a user accidentally chooses the wrong
restore point, the user can UNDO the restore operation by choosing a
restore point before the system restore took place. The user can then
choose the correct restore point. Warning: When restoring a system from
Safe Mode or from the Command Prompt an UNDO restore point will NOT be
created!

Hi Guys, I appreciate all the comments - really useful, but I'm getting more
confused !
Is this "F10 Full System Recovery" a real option ?
What exactly does "Full System Recovery" mean ?

Hello Bert
Sorry if I startled you -
No, it is NOT a typo - that's what it says in System Restore Settings
Disc space to use - 7%(11334MB)
Is that not just over 1GB???
And I have reduced it from 12%
How about 1% then??
Thank you for the additional info etc.

No, Bert is correct. It's about 11GB 1GB is 1024MB. Sorry, I misread that
when I replied to your earlier message.

I would lower it to whatever percentage produces around 1-2GB. 1% should be
about right,

NO, DON'T!!!!!. That is a method of returning the system to the factory
default install, basically wipes everything from the drive including all
your files and programs.

Hello Bert & Ken
Just to update you both -
I have a 160Gb HDD.
I never seem to get that decimal point in the right place when it comes to
bytes, in either kilo, mega or Gig.
I have reduced again to 1% which gives 2055Mb as suggested.
Thanks to you both for the clear explanations, & thanks for the for
hints/tips, Bert.
