Dallas-
Disable Tea Timer in Spybot. That will end the prompts.

Not sure why Shenan, but this AM, I can now again open Control Panel &
WinExp from their icons directly - seems it had to do w/ Restarting, tho' I
didn't know I had to do that. Thanks

sorry daave, but i did mention it in a post of the 13th.

anyway, thanks & i just tried to do what ms' own site said to do & that was
to disable the security programs pre install of sp3 & then i started to have
the issues mentioned. now, so far, it seems okay, so we'll see

thanks again

Which post of the 13th? What exactly did you mention? Please understand
that when posting to USENET, it is important to be as clear as possible.
You can't assume that everyone has read all of your posts/threads. Also,
sometimes posts don't appear.

I don't understand what you mean by the phrase "started to have the
issues mentioned now." The only issue I see is you were searching for a
way to disable your security programs and you haven't been able to
specifically disable AdAware.

In the future, though, configuring a clean boot is the easiest way to
prevent any such programs from running. Hope all went well and good
luck.

sorry again dave,as you said " don't understand what you mean by the phrase
"started to have the
issues mentioned now." The only issue I see is you were searching for a
way to disable your security programs and you haven't been able to
specifically disable AdAware."

but the issues i mentioned were that since the reinstall of spybot, i kept
getting all these pop ups, until i got advice from someone here, & the
others were i was having issues opening win explorer & control panel from
their icons & had to get to them thru other windows, if you will. but now it
seems - finger crossed - things are back to pre sp3 install!

sorry again as you had said originally :
"You mentioned SP3 in the subject line, yet it doesn't appear in the
& I mistakenly assumed since you read the first new post i had made on
this, you read the rest.

thanks & i'll save that clean boot link for the future.

yea, i guess so shenan as i felt if he read the one & said he didn't
understand, he would have looked further.

thanks
