what you describe about the dragging sounds normal... not dropping into
place on the storyboard or timeline isn't.

maybe something on my website's Setup Movie Maker > XP-2.1 page will help

I give up. Life is too short.

even if I were to fix problem with drag and drop there are lots more
problems that awit me with WMM by looks of
