Sound Cards

Any sound card will help with FPS over onboard.

I dont think the XRAM is worth the extra £50 myself tbh. By the time its being used fully, there will be something better out. :D

Unfortunately, until games start properly supporting the X-Fi’s powerful features, such as the on-board X-RAM, its benefits will go unnoticed.

I think the review you read probably said it would fit in a low profile case, not that it would only fit in a low profile case.

Think about it, there's more headroom in a 'normal' desktop PC so either of those cards will fit in a desktop PC in normal circumstances.

Quite odd though, both products named the same yet plainly different in terms of size

Perhaps somebody more knowledgeable on this product can give a better answer, it could be that the one you've linked to at E-Buyer is specifically produced for low profile and media PC's and may very well be the same product.

If it were me, I'd choose the second one you've listed.

Hey V_R, the gamer edition card DO have multiple modes. Its has the same music, audio creation and gamer modes.
the only difference is the amount of X ram, a red led and a silightly higher SNR
