If you were using Windows Mail instead of BlunderBird, then the reply
would have been accurately located directly beneath your post in the
tree-view, Alias.

Saucy Lemon

Which is where it is and why I replied. Had to make sure, though,
because with you, one never knows. So, do you have a reply to the
content of the post or are only capable insulting me?

All my computers are PCs. I only owned one Mac, the first one that came
out in 84. I sold it for a $1000 profit in 85. Haven't used or owned one
since.

Oops.

The mood strikes me to comment here -

People do come here for help, usually because they have decided for various
reasons and processes that they wish or need to have Vista loaded.

I have been using Vista since RC2 here at govt installation; and despite the
occasional frustration, overall has proven to be useful and beneficial in
making my work easier and faster.

It seems to be backwards logic that people that don't have the system
installed; can provide much assistance or guidance.

Since I do not have Ubuntu loaded or am using it in any fashion, why would
it make any sense at all for me to join a Ubuntu newsgroup and think that I
have anything useful to share with others - or more importantly suggest that
they "shouldn't load it to avoid problems"?

The nature of the newsgroup is most people come here looking for help with
issues, problems, solutions and work arounds. Having people provide useless
or pointless opinions is usually of no help - whereas people who have
encountered the issue and know of some useful information is what folks
really need.

I have left spaces in my paragraphs in anticipation of Alias making some
whimsical, amusing, pointless response to every sentence. Alias - quit
clogging the newsgroup with text spam unless you have something to really
help people with other than ".we were stupid to load Vista."

Errors such as that are usually hardware related.
Have you contacted your hardware manufacturers, especially video, and
verified Vista compatibility?
Does all your hardware have the latest Vista compatible drivers?

If it is a hardware issue, it is the hardware manufacturers issue and not
Microsoft.

Ok, to each there own. I wonder how many people would complain in a linux
newsgroup if i used that excuse to tell people to stop running linux though.

How are you supposed learn more about vista if you refuse to run it yourself
and you keep telling everyone else to not load it in the first place?

Most people are not going to have a problem running vista.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ? I DIDNT CALL EVERY ONE OF THEM!! HA !
THEY HAVE THE VISTA DRIVERS ,BUT ITS CRUSHING THE SYST !
MICROSOFT DONT TEST THE DRIVERS THAT MNFG GIVE THEM TO INSTALL W VISTA ?
REALTK DRIVER FOR VISTA ALSO CRUSH . IM TAKING VISTA OUT FOR NOW. ALL THE
DRIVERS WORKED FINE IN XP2 PRO W ATI X1950 AND 2GB MEMORY. DOU CORE 2 INTEL
3.2 . MICROSOFT WANTS $59 FOR HELP !

False premise. Many people come here to learn about something before
plopping down their hard earned cash.

You're a techie and, of course, you would want the latest and the
greatest and be prepared to deal with the non existent drivers or the
bugs in Vista. You're in a minority, however.
It seems to be backwards logic that people that don't have the system
installed; can provide much assistance or guidance.

My ONLY guidance is to wait until it's ready for prime time and I don't
need to spend my money to find that out. That has been true of every
single "final" release of every single OS MS has produced and, as a
techie, you should know that.

I am not saying that. I am saying it isn't ready for prime time and,
when it is, I will buy it and will advise others to do the same.
The nature of the newsgroup is most people come here looking for help
with issues, problems, solutions and work arounds.

Speculation. I came here to see what's happening with Vista before
making the purchase. I doubt I am the only one. I also read about it
extensively.

Fine, go for it.

I left some space above for your insults because that's all you have
left. You could start with "troll" as that is the usual knee jerk response.

If you advised to use Ubuntu 6.06 instead of 6.10, no one would say squat.
How are you supposed learn more about vista if you refuse to run it

It isn't ready for loading. Drivers aren't out. The final testing is now
being done. I am not going to buy it until it's ready for prime time and
will continue to advise others to do the same. They can take my advice
or leave it.
Most people are not going to have a problem running vista.

LOL! Now, *that's* funny!

it's up to each manufacturer to test there own drivers for compatibility,
microsoft would only have to test drivers that included with vista and not
drivers you download from a manufacturers so be mad at the manufacturer
for not fully testing there own drivers

Call ATI support since they made the card and the chipset and see if they
prefer another driver for your card.

I agree, Alias. How many times have we chided or downright ridiculed
posters for coming here complaining after installing Vista when a simple
visit here and a couple of questions would have answered the posters'
complaints before they ever installed Vista?

There are supposedly 19,000+ drivers included in the Vista DVD. There's no
way Microsoft has even tested more than a fraction of those. Drivers are
always the responsibility of the manufacturer. If your Microsoft mouse
doesn't work with Vista, by all means, give 'me hell.

Exactly my sentiments.
