Solvent based inkjet printers are a specific group of printers which
differ from the standard water soluble printers which use a water based
dye or pigment colorant with some alcohol, glycerin and glycols. The
glycols are used to both prevent the inks from freezing in shipment and
to retard drying on the ink head to help prevent clogging on the head
surface. The glycol also helps in breaking surface tension and to help
the ink to enter the paper surface.
