Sending mails through Windows Mail, receiving replies through gmai

You will not be able to select a different From address while composing
a message if you have only one mail account set up.

Note: When posting here please do not keep your Caps Lock key on.
It makes reading text more difficult, and is contrary to posting conventions.

It isn't clear from your response below whether you get your Internet connection from
Cox or from Qwest. Please let us know which company bills you every month for
your Internet connection. That would be your ISP.

I think MAR just had the caps on because they answered in-line to one of my
posts and wanted me to be able to distinguish their replies. Then just
didn't turn it off, forgot, or whatever.

Thank you very much for all your help and sorry for the caps!... I'll try to
follow slk759's instructions on how to fix this problem using the (Cox) Qwest
info. Will let you know if it worked. Thanks!!! MAR

Ok, I was up until 2am and cannot solve this! went through all the steps you
gave me, got into cox's and qwest's web site and followed their steps, which
were similar, and still the same problem. About the "From" line you tell me.
I don't have that feature. My Windows Mail has a "Create Mail" and when I get
that window, I only have a choice of "To:", "CC": and "Subject":. If I right
click on that area you told me, I don't get anything, nor I see any little
arrow anywhere.
Remember when you give me any instructions, I have Qwest. I tried to
establish another email account with Qwest with my company's email and it
wouldn't let me. I give up for now.

I already answered that point yesterday. You will not have an option for
multiple 'From' selections in the compose screen unless you have more than
one mail account set up. It sounds like you only have *one* mail account
set up in your Widows Mail. You don't need multiple mail accounts if your
needs only require one mail account.

We can't help you unless you
a) provide a clear answer as to who your ISP is (Cox or Qwest), and
b) post the error message you get when you try sending after substituting
your ISP's SMTP server.

OK Gary.
1- I only have one account with Windows Mail, business, don't want another
one.
2- If you read my last note, second paragraph says.... I have Qwest. - ISP
3- Cannot post error since I don't get any. The error is in the "From" line.
It says "Myname ([email protected]) on behalf of Myname ([email protected])
4- I canot have this when I contact clients
Thanks!

One more thing, I don't want to use gmail, I want to use my company email for
both, outgoing and incoming mail. that's what causing the troubles.

Have you asked Qwest if they support an SMTP server port other than port 25?
You pay them good money each month, so they should be willing to support you.

I understand full well what you want, but unless your company supports
an outgoing (SMTP) server port other than port 25, it's not going to work
the way you want.

Did you try setting up the SMTP as Qwest as we discussed before (my first
post on 12-13-2009 has instructions)? You said you understood and would try
it. I gave you the setup for COX - my mistake. But those settings are the
same for QWEST, you just have to substitute their server name,
"smtp.qwestoffice.net" and that setup uses SMTP port 465 so you won't run
into the port 25 block.

Since my trouble with this email setting only appears, so far, with mails I
send to my company (boss) overseas and not with clients here (?very odd) I
have left it alone if fear I might run into other troubles. But I might try
your instructions with Qwest once more. Thanks a million! MAR

How do I set up "undisclosed recipients"?

Nothing to set up, just use BCC.

To use the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) feature, In a new message window,
either click View | All Headers and type in the addresses separated by a;
Or: Click the To button. You will see your list of contacts and the choice
of putting them in the To, CC, or BCC field. Click on an address, then
click BCC to add it. Repeat for all the contacts you want. (Note: Most
ISPs have limits as to how many e-mails you can send a one time. 25 is
common, but it varies).

Put your own address in the To box. This is the only address/name that any
recipient will see. If you leave the To field blank, some people may not
receive the e-mail due to message rules they have set up, or restrictions
set by their ISP.

You can also make an entry in the Address Book using your e-mail address,
but putting something like Mailing List in the display field.
