The only way to find that out is to read the SMART temp of the
drives, and that isnt practical with USB exernal drives, which is
why I prefer the housings that do USB and eSATA. You can get
the SMART temp very easily using the eSATA connection, but hardly
any of those packaged external drives actually support sSATA.
The Seagate looks as though it is better ventilated but maybe it doesn't work as good.

Very likely, and the only way to be sure is to measure
the drive temp somehow, best using the SMART temp.

Some drives do record the highest and lowest temps the drive has
ever seen in the SMART data, but thats not much use either because
Seagate and WD drives dont, and you have to physically remove
the drive from the housing to connect it directly to see that.
