I have a ti4200 - thought with my evil PC (Dual DDR400 and P4 with HT) to upgrade the VGA...

Damn i'm dissapointed. Will never spend 400$ again on any VGA simply not worth it.

Ti4200 delivers more than enought, at 1/5 of the price...

Never ever state of the art again...

A voice of reason!
If you buy when you actually *need* a new graphics card, its about half the
price of the same thing when you *wanted* it... Oh, and I found spending
that sort of money on a decent desk, chair and big monitor did *much* more
to my gaming experience.

I am using an overclocked 9500pro, never had any problems with it other than
the usual converting from geforce to ATI driver problems. The Raddy95 will
prolly stay in the slot until back end of next year... and how much will a
9800 cost then - if its even still available!

PC zone (Nov 2003) are stating min specs of 733Mz and a *directX 6* card for
HL2 to show up the key features of the engine; facial animation and the
physics stuff. The other eye candy requires a more up to date gfx card, but
IMO anything trailing edge should really do, as long as you dont go to
pro-gamehead-fanboy resolutions... ;)

Of course, another way of looking at it is why not buy good stuff now, then
sell it later to people like you who don't mind using "trailing edge" stuff
until it's worthless?

Take your choice: Buy newer items and sell them later for half price, or
buy older technology for half price and throw it away when it's totally
useless. Both approaches cost about the same, but with the first, you get
to actually use the good stuff while it's still the latest.

You see, you get morons that know nothing of video card features. Like this
GF4 Ti4200 guy. Prolly never touched 4xFSAA or at least 8X Anisotropic
Filtering or know WTF they are. But if he enjoys low resolutions, blurring
distant textures and jaggies from hell, then 4200 is all he needs I guess?

As for me at least 1024x768x32 bit with 4x FSAA/8x AF, rich colours and
sharp images just rawk with my ATI radeon 9800 Pro.

Then again i have a roomate that plays a PS2 on my HDTV and he hardly
notices the Jaggies the size of a brick !? These ppl blind?
