removing windows vista RC1

I've installed the build 5600 RC1 of vista on my pc,and now I want to remove
it and to reinstall XP.I've formatted my hard disk , but it's impossible to
launch the windows xp setup file becasue in dos appears the message:"bootmngr
not found" .What can I do to reinstall xp and remove vista?

Boot with your XP CD. Select Recovery Console (press R on the screen when
it comes up with options).
fixboot hit enter, then fixmbr, hit enter. Reboot.

I' ve tried but it doesn't work.I can only lauch the recovery mode with
windows vista by pressin F8 and then I launch the prompt command but I can,t
launch fixboot,bootmgr or bootsect.
