Wow, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The whole point of this
post was to point out that the removal of IE has nothing to do with
Linux at all. Why were such directions posted here? It was also a
joke and dig at windows. I thank everyone for their "help" in this
matter but umm...I think some of us could exercise their sense of humor
a bit more.

Well, there were UNIX versions of IE (upto 5.0) (for (PA-RISC) HP-UX
and (SPARC) Solaris) [1], so your question was not really *that* funny/
wild.

In any case, there is an IE manpage for Linux [2], so there you go!

[1] See for example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q164539

And when running Linux on SPARC, you could execute SunOS
binaries, so in theory one could have run IE and OE under
Linux/SPARC.

When I tried IE and OE on SunOS, theywere stunningly slow. The
programs took 5-10 minutes to start up. IIRC, it had something
to do with inventorying all the available X11 fonts. After
that, it got better but was still pretty bad. It was usable for
the extremely patient. After about an hour the "gee-whiz"
factor wore off and I went back to Netscape and mutt.

I believe the programs ran on top of some sort of Wine-like
compatibility library that was written by a small company MS
had bought and then smothered in it's sleep. I always wondered
was if there was an IA32 emulation layer involved as well (I
don't think so, but it would have explained the awful execution
speed).

Yes, but where are the instructions for removing IE from Linux?

Hmmm! Hadn't thought of that one. I looked for a Solaris/X86 version
(that would probably run on Linux/X86) but there were several postings
saying such a beast didn't exist, so I left it out of my earlier
posting. But your point is better, if you don't mind that I would like
to make it running Linux on PA-RISC, or even IA64! :-)

I am at a loss as to how linux installer remove IE unless replaces
windows partitions with linux count. Please explain further.

I prefer to call microsoft software monopoly software. People are
stupid for using it. It will just cost them more in the long run. Not
to mention that they are still having critical security fixes for win2k,
which is 5 years old.

I would rather see you continue to make an ass out of yourself across
severer al newsgroups with your spam.

PKB; your response has the same news groups as his does, and does not
include a FUP to the groups that you consider appropriate. Of course,
your reference to AI is lame, since none of alt.conspiracy,
comp.os.linux.misc, alt.computer, alt.comp.freeware or
comp.security.misc is an AI news group. Of the five news groups in
Newsgroups, three seem to be relevant, two, alt.conspiracy and
comp.os.linux.misc to be irrelevant and none to relate to AI. FUP set
to alt.computer,alt.comp.freeware,comp.security.misc.
