InstallSpy works without issue with Firebird, IE, and Opera. It uses the
'open' verb (correctly, as it should) to open the correct default HTML
application. All these browsers have the open verb set in the registry.
These are by far the most popular browsers for Windows.

Your browser, for whatever reason, does not have this set. So it seems that
in this case opening with the default verb is probably the course of action
to take if using the 'open' verb does not work.

I'm glad I've finally found a solution (hopefully) and also hope that other
people have learned from this.

AGAIN, FINAL TIME. That's the area where you've made your mistake. And you
fail to understand the basics of how filetype actions are handled within
Windows. You've refused to listen to anything, from me, from Steven, from
the MSDN chapter. So I give up entirely. Your program is plonked, and I am
done wasting my time on this thread.

A minute ago, reading this message, I had not read this middle section
adequately. I very much regret the nature of the reply that I'd then set.
(Cancelled, but it will still show up on most servers.) I'm getting tired,
and time for a break.

Rereading now your middle paragraph, it appears you've found, or at least
are looking into, the programmatic method to make the correct action verb
honored. Good news.

For the record, no it will not. Not if one chooses the preferable method
of using a *single* html filetype key, with different actions, setting
one other than "Open" as default. It is nothing to do with browsers in
themselves, at all. It is to do with the registry, and the API methods
you had chosen. Which I'm glad to hear you will be changing.

Most around ACF already have knowledge of this subject, eg

.. . .

I did swear I was off this thread, too tired. This time it's for real.

You've slayed a lot of dragons today. Rest. :)

My armour needs cleaning, what a mess, blood and guts spewn everywhere. :)

Yes, thanks, time to log off. And get some rest. Maybe by heading to a biker
blues bar, tends to be a good spot to get peace.

That's funny. I was going to make a few comments about your idea of winning,
but that would just be beating a dead horse.

Personally, I'm just glad that I've found and fixed a bug, even if it is one
that is both cosmetic and effects <0.01% of the potential users of my free
software. But hey, a lot of other people have learned something about the
registry.

If you thinking you've actually won this one helps you sleep at night, then
sleep well. I know I will.
