RDP ver 6

RDP ver 6 client - the username and password is not available - how do you
enable both items so you can save the username and password?

Sorry, what are you trying to do? It won't let you save the username and
password? What error are you getting?

There is a group policy setting to prevent users from saving their password
in the RDP client. It is in Computer Configuration:Administrative
Templates:Windows Components:Terminal Services:Encryption and Security. If it
blocks you from saving the username and password that setting may be enabled.

I have edited these items and marked them as disabled (gpedit.msc) and still
I can't save the username or password - actually in the RDP options- general
tab - they are not even available for me to input any data.

We are a novell shop so there is no windows domain policies which would
override local policies.
Yes you are correct - we see:
Enter the name of the remote computer
Computer: <drop down box>
Username: (none)
You will be asked for credentials when you connect
In the old version - you could actually save the user name and password - I
want to do this... and can't.

I really don't like it.
It gives you an option to save username and password in the second screen
and it never saves the password - this is bad.
What if we want to save the username and password....
Then what.

It never saves it? How can you tell? Does it prompt you again next time you
connect? That works fine for me; disregarding the disagreement regarding the
quality of the interface design.

What OS is the server running?

Were you ever able to get this working? I have experienced the same
problem where I can no longer save passwords as part of an RDP
connection.

Unfortunately the conversations I've read all above are wrong. 'cause I tried
all of them. I'm not a an expert but I have a simple solution which really
works:

1- Do not edit any data at any group policies. Ä°f you had, enter the defaults.
2- Open RDP v6
3- In the first diaolg box, enter your user ID without any domain name
4- Do not enter any password into the password dialog box. (leave it blank)
5- Then click connect
6- Congratulations; RDP has saved your credentials and you won't see the
first password dialog box again.

This is really annoying. I just updated to RDP 6 today (02/08/2007) and now
I can't save the credentials needed to login to any computer. I get exactly
what the originator of this thread has. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2, there
is no domain or policies dictated by anyone else than the settings I specify.

How can I get the username and password for a RDP connection to be saved?
I'm trying to create one RDP file ("RemoteServer.rdp") and I want to store
on my computer the username/password so I don't have to re-enter it
every-time.

Please advise,
