Yup, I was just about to post it. I'm downloading 700kbps. I just love my
internet provider. I guess we should cry, since this is the last build we
will recieve before RTM being released.

And to think that we once thought Microsoft wouldn't release such thing as
Vista RC2...

can this build be installed on top of current 5600 or should it be freshly
installed...?
Where can we get a list of fixes or improvements?
thanks...

not sure about the list of fixes. you should be able to upgrade from 5600
(5728 allowed this). although, I always prefer to back up my files, format
the vista partition, and start clean.

Please note: This build may not have the same level of support or servicing
via Windows Update as RC1, and you may not be able to upgrade from this
build to the final version of Windows Vista.

To show how much Microsoft cares about there paying customers MSDN and
TechNet Plus, this is the fourth build in a row that the public (That pays
nothing) has got it first. Way to go Microsoft. MSDN can pay over $1,000us
a year and if they want this build they have to download it from the public
server.

Sounds like MS took an interim build and put an RC2 sticker on it.
How can you have an RC2 that doesn't meat the same standards as RC1? RC2 is
closer to RTM. It should be a better build than RC1 and be held to higher
standards not lower.

Yes, that's quoted from the Vista RC2 web site - as well as from the
download site for build 5728.

I upgraded from Vista Beta 2 to RC 1 build 5600 and then to build 5728
without problems (on a separate PC devoted to previewing Vista)
- and will now try to upgrade further to build 5744.

whatever. you can get builds we can't.

It isn't just me. I know a lot from both MSDN and TechNet Plus that are
unhappy with the way MS has treated us. 5728 was never even posted to our
Server.

Just think, though! In January, we (MSDN Subscribers) will be able to
download the shipping version which most people won't be able to do.
