Question: What is your favorite Windows Vista feature, and why?

I like Media Player, IE7, the true merge of MCE into windows, unstead of
being an ass-on to XP Pro like MCE 2002 was. The graphics, the layout, the
user control (Yes I even like UAC)
Honestly, there isn't much about Vista that i don't like.
Hope this helps :-)

Complete PC Backup Restore. Finally getting imaging in the OS. Great for
setting yer PC up, then snapping an image to facilitate restore to bare
metal when required.

and, in no particular order... some others...
"Improved" Security. All things are relative... is it perfect? Of course
not. Is it better than XP? Well I don't have any imperical data to prove
that but I "feel" more secure.
UI now drawn by DirectX. Yeah, one needs a "better" video card, but... so?
Offloads the video drawing from the cpu.
Snipping tool's OK. Wish one could constrain the highlighter and pen tools
to horizontal / vertical draws.
Think the Sidebar gadgets have some potential. Like the clock and the
weather gadgets.
Like alot of the stuff in Windows Explorer... more detailed info at hand
than prior versions. Like many things, takes some getting used to because
it is so different than prior versions but I think once one is acclimated,
it's a more productive UI. Jes' my opinion...
Seems pretty sprightly... even running on a laptop with 512MB RAM and 64MB
shared video RAM, Aero ran quite acceptably. Can't do a lot of multimedia
stuff on a seat like that... but that shouldn't be news to anyone.

Very true. However, a few days spent in any (non-microsoft) newsgroup
will show you the correct way. Top posters are generally dealt with
quickly and without mercy.

Mike:

Personally, I prefer top-posting, but for whatever reason bottom posting
is the usenet standard (as you point out).

Unfortunately, the worst possible situation is a mixture of top and
bottom posted messages, and that is what happens in these Microsoft
newsgroups.

Hopefully, Windows Mail will help these Microsoft groups to come into
line (but I'm not holding my breath...).

wasn't in XP but I just went over and tried it, and sure enough it worked.

Are you running the x64 version in a VMWare 5.5 vm? How does it
perform?

Not benchmarked it, but for desktop use it's actually very very good.
Startup is perhaps a little slower than you might expect but not especially
so and once it starts everything is just fine.
