re the Programs pages:
I'm trying to figure out what program information is useful and *not*
readily available elsewhere. Comments are requested.
I've added some LFW (last freeware version) info.
I've added PCmag utilities and noted them as $ware - since questions
about that arise fairly often. I intend to add PL programs that have
gone shareware if they aren't already listed (most are already there
with LFW info). (That should help answer the "whatever happened to
______" type questions.)
The other non-Freeware programs that I think might be useful to list are
some Spyware programs. ISTM that some programs come up for discussion on
a fairly regular basis. . . it might help to have them listed and noted
as spyware . . .
ISTM that one additional column noting which programs are "no install"
would be *very* helpful.
I've been adding URLs to the Programs pages (still have the Internet
page to do) and reorganizing as I go - still rough - I think *most* of
the programs are now on the right *page* - the subcategory
organization still leaves much to be desired . . .
I'm listing program info that doesn't change a lot - the general nature
of a program (subcategory) rather than current version info.
IMO the pages should be a fairly comprehensive listing of programs that
ACF participants find useful - with descriptive subcategories to make it
easy to narrow down searches for a program that can do __________. ISTM
that should make it easier to search for relevant ACF posts that discuss
the pros and cons of the programs.
IOW I see the pages as repositories for *static* information that
complements the *dynamic* infomation in our newsgroup posts.
What does the group think? Suggestions? Comments? Critiques?
