Problem with printer since installing broadband

Possibly not relevent but your ram is woefully low, up it to at least 256mb

Broadband, connected via usb, can as others have said be problomatic.
You would be better advised to purchase an Ethernet card - quite cheap,
brand name is better -
And connect your modem via this, if you are unfortunate enough to have a
modem without an ethernet connection, change it

Other than that a powered usb hub

I am trying to make up my mind if it's worth uping the memory or going for
a new tower as Me cause a lot of it's own problems.
The hub splitter is powered, but I shall ask my local computer repair guy if
the earthernet is worth puting on this old machine or if I am better off
starting from new.
Thank You

Why not try this card
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DLink-DFE-530...796668142QQcategoryZ51195QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You will get it for £2.50 inc P&P, I might get it myself actually, aparently
the card
takes some of the comms workload off the CPU (or something like that)
even if it doesn't work (to fix your problem) your USB is becomming rather
crowded.
You could try a router but that will be considerably more expensive and
might
not work either :O)

You might want to read this thread regarding USB or ethernet.:-

One response was:-
"After reading to the various posts and the points of view I
think you are going the right way (ethernet) and certainly my choice.
I avoid USB with ADSL as much as possible as it can
cause some unusual and interesting challenges."

You seem to havve an unusual and interesting challange
already!!

As MW said Broadband, dial up, cable or any other has diddley to do
with the printer instalation, unless your connecting the printer to
the modem's printer port that some have, simply don't.

There is a printer sharing device similar to a KVM switch / dial up
hub, invest in one if your running more than one PC, available from
Wiretek.

I run 11 PC's and share the printer with 4 of the main boxes, via a
4-1 KVM and the printer is connected the same way, I use broadband
but it don't matter what your ISP source is, my game boxes don't need
a printer so they are excluded.

Not directly, but since the modem's connected through USB,
there's still a potential for problems as USB is often best
seen as a last-resort bus, the worst way to hope everything
works.

Are they both connected via USB - if so, and if you have more than tw
usb ports, try moving them so that they are connected to differen
pairs. If the printer is USB or parallel connection, try the paralle
connection instead
