On my computer The 3COM works only __alone__ I've to disable the NVidia in
order tu be able to use it.
The NVidia doesn't have any restriction.

It appears it's not possible to modify the Mac Address on the 3Com. Right ?

Thats a bit odd.

Right ?

Thats correct, but why would yo need to?

I suspect the MAC-address isn't correct.

Isn't correct? How could it be incorrect? It comes pre-programmed and
should be unique - certainly unique enough for his purposes.

OK so, what's the reason why they work fine separately and the 3Com doesn't
disturb the NVidia when they are enabled together ?
The problem is on the 3Com side when they're enabled BOTH.

I suspect the MAC address of the 3Com to be corrupted by the Nvidia.

Interesting theory... but unless they both have the same MAC address, and
reside on the same network (which would be an odd thing to do, except in
testing conditions), I don't see how the MAC adress in itself can be a
problem - and I don't see how the MAC address could be corrupted by a
completely seperate device.

If there is a conflict between the two, I would suspect it to be in software
configuration... most likely the routing table configured by your OS.

Can you tell a bit more please ?
This sounds not too much clear to me.

I tried to install the network at the very beginning, just after the WIN98
SE installation, probably the first thing I did, prior to installing the
video and the USB drivers. I did it under VGA mode. At that moment, the was
no external software installed.

Thanks

If you have two interfaces configured, you may find that the routing table
isn't correct for your setup.

Say you have your two network devices, configured with IP addresses
192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1, each with a mask of 255.255.255.0, then if you
modem is connected to 192.168.0.1, but your gateway is configured to
192.168.1.1 for destination IP addresses 0.0.0.0 with netmask 0.0.0.0, then
it will attempt to use the wrong connection to access the internet...

Thats a simple example of an incorrectly configured routing table.

do:
route PRINT

in a command window to find out more.
