Problem with my microphone

Good luck.

This is really weird.

I was just playing around with Windows Speech Recognition for 20 minutes or so,
and my QuickCam mic works flawlessly. (Although, I still have problems
remembering the correct commands.) Dictation into Word was almost perfect.

I'm stumped.

Perhaps, you will HAVE to go with a USB headset.

OK, I definitely HAVE to get a headset. This problem is too huge for me,
I tried everything I could.
Thank you for all the time you offered me, I'll try another microphone
from now on.

Have a nice day ;)

You have a nice day too.
Sorry I wasn't able to successfully help you.

Allright, it works well now !

Some friend of mine just let me use his mic, and I was able to configure
the speech recognition, and then unlock the application ! I'm now using
the mic of my webcam, and it works pretty well.

I noticed something weird : when I use my friend's mic, the green bar
(that indicate the level of the sounds heard) is empty when there's no
sound, and is full when I speak.
With my webcam, it's the contrary : when there's no sound, the green bar
is full, and it's empty when I speak. Maybe the problem came from that
weird thing.

Thanks for all, i'm happy now, "c'est génial" !! ;)

Have a nice day,

Terrific!

That is strange indeed.

You have a great day too.

Bon jour (hope that's spelled ok)

Why
is the sound really nice on the sound recorder and the tutorial, and not
in the configuration utility ?

Sorry I can't help you on this -- although I have had Voice to Text
applications available for some time I don't try to use them since I had
surgery and lost the use of half my vocal cords! <g>

I see from a Google that took me to a MS article:

Exploring New Speech Recognition And Synthesis APIs In Windows Vista

http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/06/01/speechinWindowsVista/#top

that there are two Speech newsgroups which might be worth checking out:

The Microsoft speech newsgroups:

microsoft.public.speech_tech

and

microsoft.public.speech_tech.sdk

Good luck
