Oh BTW, on GB boards you need to open up the 'hidden' advanced settings, press CTRL + F1 IIRC. ;)

Have a look here....

The screen below is the one you want....

OK I am at point now. What setting do I change to 2.1 v?

Hi

ok I have changed the ram timings to 4-4-4-12. I will see how that goes. Is this the setting that needs to be changed the Dram Overvoltage Control to +0.075V would this then make the ram voltage 2.1 volts?

Cheers

Hey Wiz,

Can you scroll down on that BIOS page, the voltage should be there.

Hi WF,

I have gone to the bottom of the page, I found DIMM Overvoltage Control it says that this the voltages for the ddr2 memory. So now I need to work out if this is the correct +0.075V setting to change the voltage to 2.1 for the memory?

Any ideas

Thanks

It depends what it is on already?

It should say below whether its on Auto or Manual?

Can you scroll down the page and post a snapshot of the rest of the options?

I did have a GB Mobo but now have an MSI and ASUS, so can't check.

Okay DDR2 over voltage control - this is the one you want to change according to that screen.
change this setting to 1.8v first then see if that works if not put it to 1.9v.
Then if it still doesn't help try your 2.0v -2.1v.

I had a problem slightly similar to this in my new build but my PC would crash in Vista not during the BIOS.
Worth a shot this. :)

Hey Wiz,

From looking around it appears that the default setting at normal is 1.8V for Memory on all Gigabyte boards, so with the +0.075 thats at 1.875V

You need to get the DIMM Overvoltage Control to +0.300 to get to 2.1V, do it in increments only and if you get stable at a lower voltage then leave it there.

Hope this helps mate.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replies.

I have been into the BIOS and changed to +0.250V tested with that and then changed it to +0.300V. I ran CPUZ to see if it would display the volts for the ram but I could not find it anywhere all I find was on the bottom of the ram page it said 1.8v for all the timings that it listed. Is there any other programs that can find out what volts the ram is running at?

Cheers,

Wiz

Hey Wiz,

If i am reading it properly then on CPU-Z go to the Memory tab and note your timings, then goto the SPD tab and check the list to see which timings match, the voltage is at the bottom.

Yes mate that will run it a 2.1V.

Hope it works.

Hi WF,

I have changed the volts but CPUZ is not registering at as being 2.1 volts it still says 1.8v as before. I have attached pictures of the memory and SPD information in CPUZ.

Edit I have added the volts information from PC Wizard it looks like PC Wizard is registering it and not CPUZ

Cheers,

Wiz

Hmmmmmm

Dunno Cpu-Z can be funny sometimes but rest assured if you set it to +0.300 then its on 2.1V or very close to it.

Will just have to see if it corrects the problem.

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed, happy new year mate.
