Hi everyone my problem is with sp2.The installation is fine everything is
fine but when i restart my computer it takes about 5 minutes to log in and a
blue screen commes up or my computer restarts. And i buyed my computer with
vista i reinstalled it to windows xp pro i downloaded all the updates i need
but it will still not work and i have always the genuine problem with my
product id my dad has the same product key and he works fine but just PLEASE
HELP ME WITH SP2 IM TIRED OF SP1

You have "the genuine problem" because you basically stole the license, you
cannot use the same product key your dad is using, you have to buy your own
license.

Wow. So many things.

You 'bought' this computer and it came with Windows Vista installed on it so
you downgraded to Windows XP. Did you verify that the hardware drivers
existed for the system to work in XP? Have you updated those
(Windows/Microsoft Update is unlikely to do this for you - so saying you
'downloaded all the updates' means very little if that is what you meant.)

And this part... 'my dad has the same product key' <- Hello? You realize
that the way Windows XP (non-volume) licensing works is one license/product
key mean you can install said copy ONE time. If your dad currently has that
license of Windows XP installed/bootable (and it is a retail copy - not an
OEM that would not allow you to transfer it anyway) - then you cannot
utilize it on another machine. You have to buy your own copy/license.

With XP, you can't have the same product key on two machines (for a single
licence, which I assume you have). It might have been a good idea to keep
Vista, and give only a small portion of Hard disk to Vista and rest to XP.
It's easy to split up the disk in Vista to make it a dual boot, and that way,
if XP dies, you can still boot up to Vista (or vice versa).

With Windows 2000, you can use the same Key on multiple machines (not legal,
but it worked). With XP, you'd have to buy another copy of XP, which is
about $150 at TigerDirect.

I know your original question was regarding "blue screen," but there is not
much use to install all your stuff just to find out after 30 days that XP
won't stop bothering you with messages about illigal copy of windows on your
machine.

i vbuyed my computer at dumoulin were they supposed to give me a cd to
reinstall vista if its infested of virus and a undetected virus???

Take a pill there slick, your the one that violated the license agreement,
not me. You did in fact "steal" the key, you didn't purchase it, you have no
rights to it, but your using it, what would you call it?

Not necessarily, you may have a recovery partition on the hard drive or a
utility to make your own recovery disks.
What brand is it? Read the documentation that came with the PC to determine
the restore method you need to use.

oh my god i have to read everything that came with it OH MY GOD ITS LIKE A
DICTIONNARY

but if i reinstall to vista i couldnt play my games :'( is there a way to
play my games
is there a way for it to not lag?

God forbid you should have to do a bit of research on your own to help
yourself with your problem.
If your not willing to get the info you/we need to help you, then good luck,
I'm wasting no more time on this thread.
