Photoshop Elements - is it really this bad?

I can't get my 3.0 to resize from all corners, only when I use the
bottom RH corner as the earlier poster suggested. It's only that
corner that has a little 'stippled' marker to click on to resize it.

... and no, my Elements 3.0 is set to 'full screen'.

The bottom right corner has the pattern, but all corners can resize [at
least for me under windows xp]. The landing area in the other three
corners is smaller however. Perhaps other OS don't behave the same.

I think you are describing the Elements Organizer. The others are
describing the Elements editor.

Wayne -- you are absolutely right! Organizer and Elements both have the
stipple in the lower right on their 'mac-style' gui, but while Orgainzer
can be resized on all four corners, Elements can only be resized on the
stipple. More high quality programming and QA for this Nth generation
product. Let's try hard to make it not use the windows appearance settings
AND make sure the two products on the disk don't even behave like each
other.

And people think Gates is bad.

[I wonder if it can catch a virus too?]

I just had a look at Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 that came 'free'
with my V700 scanner. Is this really supposed to be one of the best
programs around (or even a subset of it)? I'm very unimpressed.

<snip>

I don't like any of the Adobe interfaces I've had to use. Too
inconsistent, way too many hidden keyboard-only commands, not enough
thought into mouse-only use. "Simple" doesn't always mean
user-friendly.

For $30 or so on sale you really can't go wrong with Paint Shop Pro 9
or X. They're much closer to Photoshop than anything else in their
class, PSE included. Slightly less capable in spots, much better
interface. For me, the biggest flaw by far has been a tendency for all
versions I've used to crash randomly. I've posted other comments about
PSP in this group that you can find through Google Groups. Picture
Window Pro isn't much like Photoshop but is small, quick, and capable
of sophisticated photo adjustments. In either case, to match Elements'
album you'd need a standalone equivalent such as ThumbsPlus, ACDSee,
maybe Picasa, etc.

If you don't need a Curves control, Elements 3 is sufficient for
adjusting scanned photos. It's just harder to convince it to do what
you want sometimes.
