I tend to align my profiles with the target size.... 720x480 for NTSC
DVDs... the higher sized ones at 1280x960 were made by the forum poster
JL4VIDEO, who says he gets better results on standard DVDs than he gets with
my profiles. I've not tested them to do a comparison.
I just added a link to newsletter #95 on that PS3 Saving page, so it has all
the newsletters about the subject as they relate to stories. It's a key one
when it comes to VBR quality or smoothness settings.
There really isn't any one right answer... quality/smoothness can be a
matter of personal preference or taste.... and may vary by the video scene
and the playback equipment. Higher quality makes things sharper, which some
people prefer... but things could shimmy/shimmer more. What Microsoft did in
their profiles was select a figure that would please most of the people most
of the time.
