20+ people in them.)
I never said it was. However, when it came to group family photos I
simply named them something like "Corliss group photo Christmas
1956.jpg" and a search for all images with "group" in the name lists them.
FWIW - I named several thousand old family photos by date, cataloged
them in a spreadsheet and created HTML pages from that. I can search for
photos by a person's name, the date, location etc. etc. etc.
And because of deliberate and careful folder creation and naming, so
can I. However, I don't require any spreadsheet or html page.
But then, my degree in biology helps me be obsessive about organizing
and naming things. YMMV.
I don't
recommend that as an *all-purpose* solution - it's one that worked well
for *me*.
I use FotoAlbum for other image collections. My daughter-in-law uses
FotoAlbum for family photos. Different strokes for different folks (and
different situations). . .
Trusting information to a specific program can reach out and bite you
on the ass if the program becomes non-functional or unavailable for
some reason (won't work with new version of OS, you format drive and
program is no longer available, etc.) That's why I avoided using a
program to categorize my images. The data took me about three years to
create and I wasn't about to take any chances with it.
