Partitioning

You miss the point Mr. MVP. There is no better off, get it. What he wants to
do cannot be done worse off with DM, he needs a 3rd party app no matter
what, Sheesh!

Yep - you've confirmed it. How was the lobotomy? They didn't do their job
well enough obviously as they've left you with enough mental capacity to
operate a keyboard.

You've buggered up your entire argument in your first sentence! PM =
Partition Magic a third party partitioning tool from PowerQuest.

Oh dear, she still has reading comprehension problems, still didn't catch
what Will stated eh? Oh well, maybe you should refer to your own words above
when you obviously miss the point.
Why don't you go off and shag another dog as I've heard recently that you
do.

Like those Clumberland Spaniels you mentioned LOL!
I'm not going to argue with you re whether I pirate software or not -
that's
the problem of arguing with the chronically stupid, they drag you down to
their level then beat you with experience.

And as for having apps I have no use for, that is true. I have Excel
installed but I never use it - my father does. Everything else, I use
practically every day. I'd show you some of my work, but you don't have
the
mental capacity to appreciate it.

So, you still live with daddy, and he buys your equipment, and you're as
ugly as you usenet personality makes you. SS must be right! I am glad
whoever "shell" is revealed you, and I looked up your past names, it only
confirms the whole truth you deny about yourself.

Yeah, I suppose only someone that ugly and possessing a s h i t
personality can get their thrills stalking people in the newsgroups. If she
didn't get attention here, she wouldn't get any attention at all!

EOT!!

Late to the party...but what the Hey!

My desktop unit has two (2) hard drives, partitioned into 5 partitions using
Partition Magic 6.0. All formating was done under Windows 98SE with data on
both drives, and worked flawlessly. I have since installed XP Home and the
partitions remained intact and appear to be working as they did under Win98.

I too have a Dell laptop with XP Home(inspiron 5150 - very nice unit if I do
say so), and am considering partitioning its hard drive into 2 or 3
partitions. One for programs, one for data, and a small FAT partition for
the XP paging file (used to be called the SWAP file)

BUT, I have read some bad things about Partition Magic and XP. Apparently
version 6.0 doesn't work with XP and there is some question about v.7.0.
The latest version is 8.0 and Partition Magic is now owned by Symantec
(Norton Antivirus, etc.). Here is one person's opinion of PM.
http://www.computergripes.com/PartitionMagic.html

There are other choices, such as BootIt NG, which fits on a single floppy
(did your Dell come with a floppy?? I got them to throw in a USB floppy.)
BootIt is considered to be for "experienced users", but apparently works
well. Another choice is Acronics Disk Director found here:
http://www.acronis.com/

I, like you, would love to hear from others who have tried partition
software on an XP system and read about their experiences and opinions.

Good luck...if you decide to try one, please let the rest of us know your
thoughts.

So what!

You are one of the worst MVPs here (just a notch above Careless Freak), in that 99% of the help you offer isn't yours. Maybe when you learn that DM cannot in any way partition a system drive/partiton into another one (like being better off), you may get a notch higher.

Miss Perspicacia Tick (a.k.a Amethyst, Cassandra, and many other aliases),
your posts are extremely rude, and counter-productive.

1) This is a Microsoft newsgroup designed to help people with questions
about Microsoft products.
2) People have a right to ask questions and make mistakes.
3) This is not English class. (Especially since you make MANY spelling and
grammar errors yourself)
4) Not everyone here speaks fluent English
5) If someone isn't following USENET etiquette, politely inform them of
their error if you expect them to listen. Calling them a moron is just
going to cause them to label you as a jacka**, and they will not listen.
6) This is a newsgroup to help
(http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=help) people, not criticise them
and be demeaning towards them.
7) If they post something off-topic, politely ask them to post in the
correct newsgroup.
8) If someone posts an incorrect solution, politely correct them.

-Being rude and demeaning as you are, only makes yourself appear
unintelligent, immature, insecure, and just plain isn't nice.

-If you are as intelligent as you try to appear to be, you would understand
that attacking people, is a very inferior thing to do. Are you so insecure
in life that you have to resort to attacking people about trivial things in
a Microsoft newsgroup? Are you so insecure that you can't stop and say to
yourself, "OK, this person just did something wrong. Why did they do it?
Was it on purpose?" and then respond politely. Are you so insecure that you
have to attack people who already are struggling with computer, and belittle
them even more, thus making yourself feel like some wolf that's establishing
its dominance? Are you so insecure that you have to act like some wild
animal, and belittle people, to make yourself feel dominant and superior?

Why do you feel the need to insult people? Nothing good comes of it. There
is no need for it. If you can think of a single reason for why we should
insult people, please tell us.
