information left on a HD,
Well, not unless it looked interesting. :-=))
I checked it more to see if I could see if the info it's self had anything
to do with it having stayed when by all accounts it should not have. As I
stated earlier it had XP home on it I went over that with XP corporate pro
which recommended I upgrade; but because of it being a used laptop I chose a
new install with the custom option that allows you to choose where to put it
and whether or not you want it to partition or to install on a partition
already available. Seeing as how I chose to have it format it should *not*
have left any of the previous information; but it did and I am still
scratching my head trying to figure out why. I figure it has something to
do with it having been previously formatted as NTFS and as I have only
recently started doing NTFS I guess that has something to do with why it
left the information.
The info was in the funny named folders like what 98SE and others do
for the content.IE5 folders; but as I said they should not have been left.
They were just left over files from web browsing and there was one file that
was an insurance application for a RV lot and the names didn't jive. I
thought from where the guy had surfed he may just be a lurker here or a few
other places; because of his not only being a ham radio operator; but also
looked to be proficient in computers and security.
When the file showed that his home address was in Indiana and I knew it
didn't jive with what I was told that there was a better then good chance
that the laptop was stolen. If you have ever heard the expression used to
describe someone as "He would give you the shirt off his back" then you know
what type of person I am in RL; because it has been used to describe me.
I ramble on and on here and other NG's I guess because it is
therapeutic for me to do so, although it is true that sometimes when I am in
more physical pain then other times and have to take more of my pain
medication that I do tend to, shall we say belabor the point of something,
lol
I am also the type of person that should you meet them in a waiting
room and then make the mistake<s> of starting up a conversation with me,
within 5-10 minuets I will have told you as much of my life story or current
woes, misfortunes, good things that have happened or the most recent going
on's in our church that I can get away with telling you before I see that
look go across your face that I have seen before of "This guy is boring me
to death how do I get away from him without hurting my feelings". Most
times<bg> however before that point I have by then I have caught myself and
find a stopping point. I have been told that this is most likely caused by
the fact that I very rarely go out of the house (except for church Sundays
and Wednesdays and until here recently the pain only allowed me to go maybe
2 times a month instead of 3 times a week) and that when I do go out and
have contact with people that I don't know it is a psychological response to
being shut-in most of the time.
Well here I go again, so I will shut up;o)
I would just start a blog; but I don't read those things because I find them
boring and I know that no one would come to read them and I know here that
at least a few will read them if for no other reason, they might find
something to trip me up in (software and the likes) or find a good laugh,
shoot some even find me entertaining, te he he.
