OK, now what?

I think that since Beta 2, the downloaded file is easy or easier to find.
For example with Pre-RC1, I had no trouble locating and moving my
"Sandboxed" download. I was able to copy/move the file from the virtualized
folder to a location of my choosing.
So the disappearing download problem shouldn't be a problem with the RC1 and
beyond versions.

It is redirection. Nothing from the internet zone is trusted and
therefore it is redirected to a sandbox location. This is by
design.

Is this an IE7 thing? Opera plonks my downloads onto the desktop.

That download manager never worked for me. Just did the browser download to
the desktop and put it on a dvd from there so it wouldn't disappear. It took
awhile to find something that would burn the image in Vista beta 2 but I
finally found the dl for Imgbrn and that worked .

It's working but I think you have to look in the virtualized folder. I just
haven't dealt with the issue because I download to the desktop when I
download in Vista and I use an XP Pro x64 machine as a helper in downloading
and burning iso's.

Actually, these download managers usually download to the last folder
you downloaded a file to (or "Documents and Settings"), unless you
specifically set a download folder.

The same thing happened to me. the free space reduced by 3gigs but the files
were not in the folder I downloaded them to.

But when it comes from the Internet Zone it now gets redirected to the
\user\virtualized\downloads, or something similar. You have to drill down
now.
