In my case I was having the same issue with a home use office 2007 enterprise
edition of office 2007 on an older XP machine. The one thing all these
entries appear to have in common is not reading the DVD properly. Since we
all have different machine configurations, it has to be something a little
unique with the format of the disk (or maybe the same drive manufacturer
under the covers). Why MS used DVD when a CD would have held it (just over
1/2 GB), who knows.
Luckily I had access to a another machine that read and copied the disk
without any issue at all. I took the copy and put it on the target machine
and ran it from the local hard drive. Even ran FIX just to see if it would
work too. No problems.
So if you don't have access to a second machine, do you have any friends,
neighbors, or a co-worker that can copy the DVD to CD or a thumb drive for
you.
