I'm using NIS 2009 which includes NAV 2009. I installed it on three
computers and the install is incredibly fast - less then two minutes and
didn't require a reboot. I've used previous versions of NIS and NAV,
including 2008, and everything about the 2009 versions is dramatically
improved. Regarding detection I can't personally test it, but it did
receive very high marks from a recent PC Magazine review.

Norton products always recieve very high marks from PC magazines, for a
number of reasons:
i) People who write pc magazines always ahve the latest technology, with
huge amounts of ram, fast hard drives and latest processors. Try installing
it on a five year old emachine with 512mb of memory and a 2ghz celeron cpu.
ii) Symantec are *heavy* regular advertisers

Maybe it is a new feature of NIS 2009, new usenet security features.

Sorry about the multiple posts. I'm using the new Windows Live Mail 3.0
beta and this is the first time I've seen this crazy behavior.

Regarding NIS 2009 and NAV 2009 all I hear from you critics is you don't
"believe" the positive reviews are credible or you don't "believe" it will
run well on older computers. How about providing some credible information
that supports your negative opinions?

My condolences. You should consider a real newsreader.

Beta? Well, that explains it.

You aren't the first...
Thanks but condolences are not needed. How about we each use the software
we prefer and be happy? - that's called celebrating diversity which I think
is better than empty criticism. And what about actually getting "on topic"?
The OP asked specifically for comments from people with hands-on experience
with NAV 2009.

Only problem with that is they are an extremely rare species. And a tad
on the brain dead side of the equation......(G)

My comments were related to your "multiple posts". Good software doesn't
do that.

Please instruct your software to trim signatures when you reply. Thanks
for your consideration.

Ummm, Bill. It wasn't me that said that.......it was Victek. Just to
clarify things. I wouldn't use Norton if it was the ONLY aV left.
