i have a problem with my ATI card....
It's a Radeon x300 with 128MB or memory

windows vista only sees 32MB of memory, and i have tried both the Vista
driver and the new ATI driver, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Are you sure it is real 128 MB VRAM and not shared with the RAM?

ATI hide the latter behind the pompous denomination "HyperMemory";-)

see, e.g., the specification of the Sapphire "Radeon X300SE
Hypermemory": "128MB version is equipped with 32MB of Onboard VRAM"

Don't worry - Vista gave 96 MB to me;-)

My Radeon 9800 128 MB is shown by Vista as equipped with 256 MB VRAM!

It's a bug of the ATI driver and/or Vista.
(But see my earlier posting)

I had an impossible time trying to get Radeon 9800 PRO to work right.

Then as I tried all kinds of stuff to set up Media Center to work with my
Hauppauge WIN-TV card (88x) I kept making it worse and worse until my 3gz
P4/2gb ran slower than a snail (my 450mx P3/256mb XP-Pro).

I restored back to an early checkpoint when Aero was still working. It
performs pretty well in this condition as long as I don't try to get WIN-TV
to work.

Most recently I tried adding an ATI HDTV Wonder, but it only gets recognized
as another WIN-TV card -- even when I pull the WIN-TV card! --- just weird
--- so I can't even try to install the HDTV Wonder drivers (which are only XP
anyway)

I've been doing this beta stuff a loooonnng time and I can't believe this is
such a mess at Beta 2, with corporate target in November and consumer in
January.

This is scarier tha WinME

Ah well, I am a retired IT guy and my living no longer depends on making it
work.

ATI Radeon 9800 128MB. ATI beta drivers will not install. It gets about half
way (Control Center?) and then fails - I don't remember the error message.
Repeated serval times, same error.
Finally tried manually installing from the setup file in C;\ATI\SUPPORT.
These loaded. I could run Control Center. But, all Vista games had corrupted
visuals.
Default Vista drivers are working fine. Vista games run fine. I successfully
ran 3DMark03 with a warning at begining but all tests ran. Results were
consistant with what I get in XP.

I am hoping you can offer some assistance. I have the following system
asus a8v deluxe
2 gb ram
amd athlon 64
radeon 9600XT All-In-Wonder
Maxtor 80gb SATA hard drive
Maxtor 60gb SATA hard drive
Plextor DVD-rw
WinXP professional sp2

I have been trying to install Vista beta 2. the problem occurs during bootup
from cd with both 32 and 64 bit vista. The screen resolution is so far off
that I am unable to read anything onscreen. I went back into my win xp
settings and set resolution to lowest possible setting at 16 color.
I saw you have a radeon 9600 xt card and would like to know if you
experienced simular problems and how you were able to load vista.
Thank you

Do you have access to another video card you can
try? I have an Asus A8V with a nVidia FX 5500
and I did not encounter any problems installing
Vista.

What about your DVD - is it IDE or SATA? Some
systems have a problem installing from a SATA
DVD drive.

Hi I have found two problems with the beta drivers from Ati one being the
loss of video when using Media Center in Vista Ultimate I get an error
message saying MediaCenter has stop responding, second my audigy2 sound card
losses sound I have to reinstall the drivers to get it back. The ati drivers
that load with the install work fine with MediaCenter, I have sent a email to
Ati support about this but as of today have not heard back from them

Dell XPS3 3.40 Gh/ wHT
Ati Radon 800 GT
2GH Memory
500 Gh HDD WD

Well, I've made sme "progress"...

I pulled the Hauppauge Win-TV, uninstalled the drivers, ran ATI HDTV driver
installs, then put in the HDTV Wonder --- it got recognized!

I tried it with ATI Multimedia Center software and the analog tuner worked.

The HDTV tuner didn't exactly --- I could Autoscan to findchannels, but
signal strength was being randomly reported in thousands of percent on every
channel.
It added every one. However, it actually identified reall HD channels by
name, but whenever I tried to play one, it would not identify it (onscreen HD
digital description with name, format, content) -- always describedit a 480i
and showed blank screen.

Then I put theWin-TV card back in, saw it recognized, installed drivers.

More weirdness: Hauppage WINTV2000 software would only display splash
screen and lock up, but ATI TV recognized it as "Unknown Tuner", configed it
and can play it!

Finally, I tried Media Center and was back to square one there -- every
attempt to touch TV results in a Crash Report.

I wonder what to try next...

Hmmm sorry don't think I can help, my 9600xt was fine right through the
install, no problems regards resolution at all, only things I can think of
to try is
unattended vista installation option? (dont know if this even exists yet
mind you)
update instead of full install?
try unplugging everything except for your main monitor (if applicable) and
then install -perhaps its getting confused if you got more than 1 monitor
plugged in (I know it hates my tv unless I boot from it)

Sorry I cant think of anything else to try as I didnt get any problems
personally with the install :-(

The ATI drivers are half farted.
Maybe next time. After several attempts, only errors and ambiguous messages.

Did you try turning off UAC, changing to the standard vga adapter in device
manager, and then installing the ati drivers in safe mode? I didnt have to
do this myself but have heard of others doing it to get some cards working
with outsourced vista drivers

I have an ATI Radeon 9600 and get the same thing. I have a WINFAST mainboard
and a SiS chipset.

ATI X1600 PCI Express 512 MB Card..Will not install with any drivers. Called
ATI support and was told NO SUPPORT for Vista.

Anyone figure out how to get this card working? Only thing I can do is set
it to standard VGA to get a picture..

ATI x1600 PCI Express 512MB card. Only works as standard VGA device. ATI
claims NO SUPPORT for Vista. Anyone make it work yet?

I have a radeon 9550pro and a 9800pro cards. I downloaded the newest drivers
form ati which at least let my computer recoginze the cards. Not that it
matters seeing how I can't play any of my games b/c of a issue with the
newest directX that is insatalled with Vista. Could they not design a directX
that could run "older" games and the next generation games? WTF

Only problem I'm having with the ATI display adapters is that Device Manager
(Mangler) has decided to lose my secondary display adapter (ATI Radeon 9600
series). It shows up if I check the show hidden devices tab, says it is
working correctly, but Windows absolutely refuses to put my secondary
monitor onto it.....it keeps trying to set it to the primary adapter
alongside my main monitor, which is a no-go. I've had to disable second
monitor for now. (Vista 32 bit running here)

hey i think you problem might be that you havnt got ur sec turned on! so
turn it on and restart the computer, once you computer is started goto your
graphics setup not windows display and set it up from there thats wut i did
and it worked i also have 9660( i couldnt get my sec to work ever by going to
windows display till i set it up first in the ati tray thing
